In honor of our ancestors who celebrated August 4th, we remember them, and we pause to also appreciate that the centuries of slavery endured by our ancestors came to an end. Whatever the origin on the date, it was something to commemorate, and to appreciate that bondage was over, and the ancestors had the freedom to determine the direction of their own lives.
